Our fuel supplier has given the Calgary Flying Club notice to quarantine all fuel. This may effect anyone who has purchased AVGAS from us since December 28th and has the fuel still sitting in your tank. Until more information is available, we do not recommended to fly on this quarantined fuel. As a precaution AVGAS will not be available for purchase until new fuel is obtained or an appropriate alternate solution is found. Stay in contact with the club and monitor news reports regarding a refinery-based fuel quality issue. If you have a lesson in the next few days please call the club to confirm aircraft availability. CFC has de-fueled all aircraft and is sourcing non-quarantined AVGAS while supplies last. We are working on the best way to help our members at this time and will keep you informed of the situation via our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CalgaryFlyingClub/
The 2018 Calgary Flying Club member activities are coordinated by the Members Program Committee (MPC). This volunteer committee has the important role of organizing the clubs social activities and in creating events important to you and others. It was a successful last year due to the efforts of its dedicated members and now has opportunities for new members to join this committee. All members are invited to attend our meetings and share ideas on club activities. This committee is crucial to the future of the club and meetings will be held in the boardroom at the Calgary Flying Club, 7 PM on the third of Tuesday of each Month, beginning Tuesday February 20th . Harvey Fairfield will be the CFC Director organizing the MPC support for member activities.
As you know, CFC has Cirrus SR-20 on the flight line. We are planning a Cirrus Collaboration Night at CFC to bring together those already flying the Cirrus and those wishing to step up or find a great cross-country machine. In an open forum, an overview of the aircraft, best practices on the operations, important avionics features of the Garmin Perspective and flying opportunities will be discussed. The date is Tuesday March 6th at 18:00 upstairs at CFC. Anyone interested in a 1/6 ownership can also find out more information. For those new to the Cirrus, a promotional package will be available to get you through the type check-ride and on your way to comfortable flying in an advanced aircraft (a $1000 saving).
We want to also take this opportunity to let you know about our Pub Nights which take place at 1730 on the last Friday of each month with the next one being held on February 23rd. We will try our best to escape the cold with a Mexican themed evening. Dust off your sombrero and come chat and enjoy some drinks with other club members.

Access to aircraft and instructors is tight at this time. Just reminder that late cancellations and no-shows for bookings will now be charged $90 plus gst for each booking. To help us keep a lid on price increases, we are asking Members to pay by cash, cash on account, debit, cheque or eTransfer. For convenience, CFC will soon offer you the option of pre-authorized debit for your flight with a receipt emailed to you upon payment.
C-FMTF is now back on the flight line with a new engine. In March, CFC will have two well-equipped C-172’s joining the fleet (GYEH and GWMB). CFC has decided to proceed with the sale of the C-152s (GWKI and GVYD). A small tear will be shed as these aircraft leave us. The original purchase of the C-152s was financially supported by Members and we are all very appreciative.
Plenty of aircraft rental opportunities through the week and on weekends.
